Creating Opportunities for Respectful Environments

Creating Opportunities for Respectful Environments

حوإ¼½م½م seeks to be a respectful space and to model the behaviors that encourage civility and respect. Please help us all learn how to create, sustain, and support an environment where:ج‎

  • We communicate honestly and with integrity.
  • We treat each other with dignity and respect.
  • We are responsible for our own learning and development.
  • We are responsible for contributing to the learning of others.
  • We are responsible for the growth and development of حوإ¼½م½م.

Let’s work together to create opportunities for respectful environments throughout the program and construction management profession.

This page of the حوإ¼½م½م website is designed to bring together حوإ¼½م½م’s positions and other work on the topic.ج‎

حوإ¼½م½م Statement of Valuesج‎

Most recently revised in 2025, these statements form a Board of Directors-approved document expressing حوإ¼½م½م’s organizational values for both the profession and the association. They are understood as a contemporary expression of حوإ¼½م½م’s historical values and as a foundation for decision making and organizational commitments.

Among the 11 statements, approved on April 22, 2025, is the following:

  • Respectful Member Experiences -ج‎In order to achieve the best possible outcomes for the association, حوإ¼½م½م seeks to create member experiences where all people are treated with dignity and respect. Further, حوإ¼½م½م invites all to pursue any opportunity in its membership, leadership, and activities.

By compiling the statements into a single document, حوإ¼½م½م seeks to accomplish several objectives.

The Construction Management Association of America (حوإ¼½م½م) Position Statements are designed to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Affirm organizational values; translate values into action.ج‎
  • Position حوإ¼½م½م to act, in a timely and consistent manner.ج‎
  • Meet outcomes and strategies for shaping the profession and establishing حوإ¼½م½م as the authoritative voice for the profession.ج‎

Code of Professional Conductج‎

The حوإ¼½م½م Code of Professional Conduct (approved October 28, 2024) is voluntarily agreed to by members of the association and represents the aspirations of the profession relative to clients, owners, colleagues, and the public.

“حوإ¼½م½م Membersâ€‌ as used in this code is a term that applies to all members in performance of their services for construction programs and projects. حوإ¼½م½م Members provide a broad range of services to their clients and employers that encompass program, project, and construction management and also serving as owner advisors or representatives.

The code is rooted in the historical values of the profession and linked directly to the حوإ¼½م½م Statement of Values.

Four fundamental principles form the foundation of the code: Ethical Practice, Professional Excellence, Responsibility to the Public, and Client-Centered Practice.

Under the heading of Ethical Practice, the حوإ¼½م½م Board of Directors has approved the following:

  • حوإ¼½م½م Members should strive to create a diverse workforce and should respect the rights of others by not discriminating on the basis of race, color, gender, marital status, religion, national origin, age, disability, or sexual orientation.
  • حوإ¼½م½م Members should have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment.
